The Process

It starts with an idea, followed by the selection of beads and feathers

Beadwork

I visit vintage shops, charity and bric-a-brac outlets for pre-owned necklaces to source my beads.

Each bead is lovingly handsewn onto the cotton backing.

Please note: I can also work with Swarovski crystals, gold leaf and a range of opulent fabrics (silk; linen and suede) to add further drama and impact to a piece.

Feathers

Feathers are collected mainly from the foreshores around Chichester Harbour and in the South Downs countryside in the South of England.

They are then washed three times, dried, brushed and trimmed. For certain pieces I then hand paint them to create a complementary look.
